Neck Injuries

We have heard it said that a “minor” neck injury is best defined as a neck injury that happens to somebody else. At Mirick O’Connell, our Massachusetts neck injury lawyers are aware just how serious neck injuries can be. The neck is used in nearly every movement that a person makes, and the pain is never-ending and often constant. In the past, we have represented clients who have suffered the following types of neck injuries:

  • Neck strains;

  • Herniated discs in the neck;

  • Herniated discs impinging on the spinal cord;

  • Broken necks;

  • Broken necks leading to paralysis or quadriplegia.

Unfortunately, the neck is an area of the body that is highly prone to injury. While the neck covers only about 12% of the body, a study by the U.S. Nationwide Emergency Department found that far more than 12% of visits to the emergency room are due to neck injuries. Much of this stems from the fact that a neck is made to twist independently, and is one of the few parts of the body that is designed to move without the rest of the body moving.

Neck injuries can come in any number of ways. While most people think of neck injuries as coming from motor vehicle accidents, we have represented neck injury victims throughout a wide scope of cases. Some of those types of cases are:

  • Product liability cases;

  • Construction site defects;

  • Slip and falls;

  • Falls from height;

  • Sports injuries;

  • Injuries suffered in violent crime.

The exact nature of a neck injury is often very difficult to determine, as there is often no physical disfigurement that goes along with injuries to the tissue and bones in the neck. Basically, a person who has a severe neck injury may appear to be fine. At Mirick O’Connell, we have the resources of a big firm, and will ensure that neck injury victims are seen by the right doctors to give insurance companies the full picture on how serious these injuries.

If you or a loved one has suffered a neck injury, please call us now. There will be no out of pocket charge to you, and we may be able to help.
